Emphasis will be placed on thoroughly understanding Ms. Legal Issues, related to Human Trafficking, current as of 2017 by
Ms. Special Assistant. Attorney General Paula Broome. Investigative techniques, applicable to these matters will be presented
by Investigator Gypsi Ward, Ms. Attorney General’s Office, Public Integrity Division. She will discuss recognizing the
victim, who was being trafficked, and specialized methods for interviewing the victim, as well as interrogation of the Trafficker.
Shalotta Sharp, RN, Sexual Assault Nursing Examiner, representing the Ms. Coalition Against Sexual Assault, will
cover the medical/forensic responses required in these type cases, along with the role of the medical provider when submitting
necessary reports to Law Enforcement and Child Protective Services. Within this presentation, the collection of evidence
and the process involved will be discussed in detail. Unless the procedures and processes taught in this class are carefully observed,
the successful later prosecution and dismantling of “Human Trafficking Individuals or Groups” may be endangered.
